Home irrigation done properly, from planning through to long term support

Most irrigation problems we see are not caused by bad products. They come from poor planning.

Pipe sized too small. Sprinklers that do not match pressure or flow. Controllers that promise flexibility but do not suit how the property is actually used. By the time those issues show up, the lawn is patchy, the garden is stressed, and the cost to fix it is often higher than doing it properly at the start.

At WaterForce, our home irrigation offering is built around one simple idea, design first, then supply, install, and support in a way that fits the customer, the site, and the people doing the work.

Because not everyone needs the same level of involvement, we support three common pathways.

For the hands on homeowner, plan it properly before you dig

Some homeowners want to do the work themselves. This can reduce the cost of your project, provided the system is planned with care.

We have developed a Home Irrigation Planning Guide to help DIY customers think through layout, water supply, sprinkler selection, and automation before buying anything. The guide walks through sketching your property to scale, measuring flow and pressure, and understanding where different irrigation types make sense.

That includes choosing the right sprinklers for the job. For example, larger lawn areas are often best suited to Hunter PGP rotor sprinklers, which deliver consistent coverage over longer distances. Smaller or more irregular lawns may be better served by Hunter MP Rotator nozzles, which apply water more slowly and evenly, reducing runoff and improving uniformity.

Once that groundwork is done, customers can bring their plan into a local WaterForce store. Our retail teams can sense check layouts, confirm product selection, and help avoid common mistakes like mixing incompatible sprinklers on the same zone or exceeding available flow.

Some customers install everything themselves. Others combine DIY installation with professional help for tricky parts. The key is that the system starts with a plan, not a guess.

When you know what you want, but need it designed properly

For larger sections, lifestyle blocks, or more complex gardens, an on site design is often the sensible option.

Our design consultants visit the property, measure the site, assess water supply, pressure, and volumes, and then design the system using CAD. This allows zones, pipe sizes, sprinkler spacing, and product selection to be calculated for even application and long term reliability.

This is where precise irrigation design matters. Matching sprinklers, pipework, and control to the available water supply ensures lawns receive uniform coverage and gardens get water where it is needed, without waste.

Automation is also part of this process. Many home systems now use Hunter Hydrawise Wi-Fi controllers, including models such as the Pro-HC and HCC, which allow remote scheduling, seasonal adjustment, and weather-based control. Used properly, these controllers add flexibility and water efficiency. Used poorly, they simply automate bad decisions. Design makes the difference.

This service suits homeowners who want confidence that the system will work as intended, whether WaterForce installs it, a landscaper installs it, or the owner does part of the work themselves.

Supporting landscapers with quality designs and system packages

We also work closely with landscapers who are capable installers but do not want to carry the technical risk of irrigation design alone.

Without a proper design, landscapers can be exposed when systems underperform. The customer is unhappy, the installer is stuck, and rework costs escalate. This often comes back to incorrect pipe sizing, poor sprinkler selection, or controllers that do not match the system layout.

By providing a clear design, product specification, and technical backup, we help protect both the end customer and the installer. Whether the system uses rotor sprinklers for turf, MP Rotators for tighter areas, or dripline and micro sprinklers for garden irrigation, there is a design to refer back to rather than guesswork on site.

This approach reduces risk, saves time, and leads to better outcomes for everyone involved.

Supply, install, service, and ongoing support

Across all of these pathways, WaterForce can supply the full range of irrigation equipment, from pumps, tanks, and filtration through to Hunter sprinklers, Hydrawise controllers, dripline, and micro irrigation systems. We also install and service systems, and provide ongoing support as seasons change and gardens mature.

March is a sensible time to start these conversations. Good systems are planned well ahead of peak demand, not rushed when lawns are already stressed. If you are thinking about irrigation for the seasons ahead, early design gives you better choices and fewer compromises.

If you have a project in mind, whether it is DIY, professionally designed, or installed through a landscaper, talk to us early and build something that best suits your property.
